failed emmisions...help?

i just failed the VA emissions test. My car read almost double the legal limit of NO.

does anybody have any idea what the problem might be. All non emmisions legal parts had been removed for the test, but i had my AFPR set at 15 psi.

I'm thinking that could be the problem or possibly a bad egr valve.

any help would be appreciated.

Might be an EGR problem or a cat. flowing to much. Remember they have a positive pressure EGR, without some back pressure they don't work right. Could also be the EGR solenoid some times they get stuck and need cleaning.

well thanks for the advice(been busy the last several weeks, that's why this is so long in coming)

turns out I had a bunch of problems, the fuel pressure was fine, but my egr solenoid was fried, and the insides of my cat were busted up, also the AIR tube was completely bent and non functioning. got it all fixed, and had the cat tucked up a little bit, and she passed easy(better than when i got it 2 years ago by far!)

later....can't wait till track opens.

It's the EGR valve most likely how old is your cat converter?

the cat was only about 2 yrs old, but i crunched it and the air tube on some speed bumps, cause the car is lowered, and i got some fat assed friends.. ha ha. anyhow it's running good now, i'm planning on taking it across the country this summer. to CA then back. hope it makes it.
