I justed looked at the Holley #17-41 adapter plate posted about in another thread. It looks like it's reversible to me, causing the TB to sit either slightly FORWARD or slightly towards the REAR of the standard 4bbl intake manfiold.

Which way should I install it on a regular Performer intake manifold? Will the throttle/kickdown cables fit better one way versus the other? Is there a performance reason for reversing it?

the way it works is that it fits wit hthe throttle body in the forward position. I thought this was neccessary before but have since seen that a centered adapterplate is probably the way to go, turbo city makes one, but its not something you couldnt make yourself or have a machine shop make for you
just remember to use an injector spacer that brings the injector spray cone out to just above the edges of the throttle blades

btw i use the centered adapter plate from turbo city (i had to grind on it substantially to make it work with the bigger throttle body though)

Thanks, Pablo. I figured it was the forward position sice that's where the primary throttle bores would be located on the maifold if it was using a regular old 4bbl. Good to know about the centered-hole plate, too. Really, it's nice to know that the placement is not super-critical. In case I need to clear some obstacle somewhere.

I htought you said it was better to have it forward because your plugs were gettin wet with fuel?
