Emissions

I ahve a '91 chevy pickup with a 5 speed/350, and i noticed there was a bracket under the ac compressor for the air pump, but there wasn't a air pump there, so i looked at other trucks similar to mine and there wasnt a air pump on them either, why?
thanks-

Trucks have different emmisions standards than cars. Probrably wasn't required.

All near-year rucks with AT's did NOT have the pumps and I thought almost all of the MT trucks had it. You're probably cool or it was removed.
