Is anyone having problems with their MSD?

I am not even sure that the problem is my MSD 6A. When my car is cold, it will not run properly and misses something fierce. Seems like it only does it under 2,000 rpm. I tried everything else except my 6a. Maybe it is not firing right uynder 2,000? Anyone have a cold problem with theirs? Thought it might be the 6A because under something like 2,000 doesn't it fire the plug like three times or something? Possible malfunction? I am getting no SES light or anything and all gauges are normaly set. Once the car is warm it squats and lifts the front and takes off. When it is cold and under 2,000 it just spits and sputters. Any help or feedback would be greatly aprecitaed. Thanks guys

Eric

I was shocked to see that companies sold a taillight
set for a rustang! Since when do they have taillights????

It looks like Andy89RS's MSD made his cap and roter prematurely wear from the amplification effect of the MSD. Check your cap and roter.

O.K. I will. Good idea. Would it do it only when it is cold though? If it were the cap and rotor wouldn't it do it all the time? Just curious. Thanks again for the idea.

Taz,
By the way, where did you get your non-drop base for your air cleaner? Been looking everywhere. Thanks

I've had my system for 2 years now and no problems with the system. It is most likely your open air element. I just put mine on 3months ago and my car does the same thing as yours. let me guess still below 50 there at night.

Yes. Under 50. Open element air cleaner. Been that way for 3 years. Why is it just now a problem? I have driven it this last month when the temp was about 10 below 0. No problems. Fired right up, drove right off. Never has in 3 years. Last week there was a 70 degree day and it did it in the middle of the afternoon. Just always does it when there is a cold start. If it sits for more than 3 hours or so.

I got mine from P.A.W. $17 with paper filter. I got a K&N after I tested with different paper elements to see how high I could go. I needed a longer "carb" stud because the top of the open element is not flat like some models. The top is slightly coned and looks great. www.pawengineparts.com

Thanks TAZ. as soon as I can I will get one of those. I can get the 2 1/8 one because I also have e 3 inch k-n-n. I have a 3 inch cowl hood so I can go pretty high if I choose to do so.

well i really don't know how to help you thats just when i noticed my problem, but like taz said mine is in need of a full tune up. you might try going .045-.050 on your spark gap if you give it a tuneup

I thought the same thing so I already went .45. It still runs pretty crappy. It probably is the air cleaner thing. Without that thermatrack thing or what ever it is called, it is not getting warm air to the TBI. I will try to hook the old one up
