What is it??????????
I am installing a cross fire injection on my 82 Z28 and ran into a big problem. I can not find a spark controller for it. In the books it is behind the computer under the dash. No one seems to have one lying around and no one can tell me what it is suposed to do. Can anyone help??????
Why would you purposely install cease-fi... err... I mean cross-fire injection on your engine? Those things are unreliable at best. Save yourself some head aches and go with a carb.

I would go look for one in a junk yard, but honestly I don't know what you're refering to. My car just has the computer. There is an ESC module on the fire wall on the drivers side. Maybe the '82's are different. Go to the above site and ask there.

Besides constant tuning just to keep it idleing decently, it had a tendancy to injest lots of water when it rained (I live in WA = lots of rain). I've had Camaros (7 total) with carbs, TPI, TBI, and CFI. BTW, Apparently GM felt that Crossfire was crap also.------------------

Well that's cool. I tuned my minimum air and syncronized the throttle plates ONCE when I bought the car 10 YEARS AGO. I have since had two different motors in it and have only touched the injection to remove it, install it, and to modify it. Maybe you were doing someting wrong? I never ingested water either.
BTW when I had the origional 305, with headers, I ran 14.5 @ 95mph. Lets see you do that with any L03, LG4, or TPI 305.

i think im in agreement. Ive heard some info from crossfire guys and how they mod them too. Once you have theory basis of how intake systems need to work. You can make something originally so-so, into something great. cf and tbi are much alike and both are underappreciated.

MY CAR WOULD RUN SO MUCH BETTER IF I DIDN'T HAVE USED PARTS IN IT(my long block).
I saw that in the Track Times thread and nearly died. 'Bird and 8T9 don't get the bottom line. I have ~$1000 into my entire power train and I'm running almos two seconds faster than they are in the 1/4! Same goes for you Pablo. These guy don't get the BANG FOR THE BUCK concept. BTW I've had un-coated, edelbrock headers on MY car for 8 YEARS and they haven't rusted yet. AND I BOUGHT THEM USED FOR $125!!!
They'll rust out.

My lightly modded 305TPI seemed to run much stronger than my CFI. I'm certainly no expert on CFI, I just prefered the TPI.

My old TPI definately FELT like it had big *****, but at the track it just sucked. My best ever in the TPI was a 15.6 @ 86 mph. That was with catback, Gutted cat, TB coolant bypass, gutted MAF, cold ait kit, stock auto and stock 3.07 gears. It was wierd how very strong it felt on the street -kind of made me feel like a "tough guy". But at the track the CFI could take it down with ease.
I've always wondered what qualities of a drive train makes a car "feel" fast when it really isn't. Take a stock Honda for example. They ALL feel spritely and rev happy. They give a satisfying urgent pull when you push them, but they are not fast. Not at all. Strange how power is percieved.

I had a real similar setup in my '85 Z plus MSD-6A, no emissions crap, and 3.23s. It felt really quick, but I never took it to the track.

The spark control system consists of 2 boxes, apart from the ECM. The EST and the ESC. The ESC (electronic spark control) is the kknock retard controller and it's mounted on the back of the ECM. The EST (spark advance controller) is mounted somewhere else. i don't know where it is in a camaro.
The EST from later model corvettes can be used (and are desired if you go to a roller cam since they have an ignore circuit to ignore roller noise)
The EST from 82&84 Corvettes is the same as yours. Look on Ebay.

you got me beat on the headers too i spent 150 on mine used of course
