When I start it cold it idles at 1500 rpm for several minutes before it idles down.takes about ten minutes to get down to 700 rpm in drive. Its been like this since I got it last june.

It acts that way in the midle of summer also, allthough not as long, it still takes a few minutes.I dont like putting it in gear at 1500(700r4).And I cant see sitting arround 5-10 min. waiting for it to idle down.

dont know if its much help, but right now, my car takes less than 5 seconds to drop idle.
in the winter it could take a minute or two, but not 10.
i think you have something wrong near/on the tbi. tps? linkage? vaccum? map?

In cold weather it can take as long as you stated in order for the idle go down (or go in closed loop).
In warm weather it can take a few seconds to maybe 2-3 minutes to do the same.
If you think there is something wrong, then check all sensors that would affect the idle

i agree with snflupigus. my car idles at 1500 for like maybe like ten seconds then it drops to about 700 rpms in park. then at 500 in drive. if you have an open element, make sure you plug the necessary fitings up. that could screw your idle up
