Runs great in Open Loop, Not so great in Closed ---- Knock Sensor?
Runs great in Open Loop, Not so great in Closed ---- Knock Sensor?
My '92 305 w/ TBI seems to have lots of torque in Open Loop. It has pull all the way up to the 4k RPM range and runs great.
When the ECM goes into Closed Loop, it seems not to run so great. IT will only pull into he mid 3k RPM range, and also develops a wierd idle.
When the idle problem is present, the car will sometimes hold an idle up at 1k. Also, in closed loop, there is a little bit of surging going on.
I was thinking this might be due to invalid readings from the knock sensor and was wondering if there is a way to test it?
Can I just unplug it, or will that thow the ECM for a loop?
Thanks,
Thomas.
