Headgasket... Decisions, Decisions...
Hey everyone,
I just got finished putting a new trans into my car & I noticed coolant dripping out of the engine. Looks to be near the headgasket. Heres the deal its a mostly stock 305TBI w/ 165k miles on it. What should I do? I know I can get a 90k mile LO3 for cheap to swap in or I can just replace the gaskets on my engine. If I replace the gaskets, what else should I do while im in there? I dont want to get too crazy because I probably wont have this engine too much longer (LT1 swap planned next winter)
Thanks,
Mark B

pull the heads off, have them magnufluxed, vacuum tested, if that checks out good have them resurfaced. new head gasket set. and be done with it. no sense in doing anymore that that.

Thats kind of what I was thinking too. Usually when something breaks, I build it better. But in this circumstance, I will probably just fix it. (Mabey a pocket port job? haha)

Could also be from the intake manifold. Lot more likely as the head gaskets blow out internally since the escaping combusion gasses vaporizing the gasket are what cause the leaks.
