Changing heads, manifold, cam, but leaving stock exhaust manifolds on
Yes I know it seems stupid that I would make all those changes without upgrading the exhaust, but I just can't be sure that aftermarket F-body headers will fit my Volvo swap. So am I basically stopping up all of the airflow I'm creating with the new parts? I plan to run a 2 1/2" Y-pipe to a high flow cat and then 2 1/2" pipe back to a turbo style muffler.

well I see your swap dilema but the 305 TBIs stock exaust is some of the worst ever. try to get soem TPI manifolds or LT4 vette manifolds or big chevy van manifolds.

you should see where you motor mounts will be before you get exaust manifolds. F-bodys dump out the rear but Vette dump in the center. You might even find some block hugger headers that dump out the center. I don't remember what the Van manifolds look like. I think GM still makes the old 327 "Ram Horn" manifolds that dump out the center like the LT4s. They have 2.5" outlets. You have lots of options but you need to narrow them down.
