Welcome to TGO.First does your '82 actually have IROC decals on it?The reason I ask is the IROC package(RPO-B4Z)wasn't available until '85.The motor you have,VIN eighth digit "7" for '82,is a LU5 305 with Crossfire Injection.Does she run at all, runs rough, check engine light on?
The answer to your question on converting to a carb setup. You have a couple ways to go.You'll need a 4bbl intake,Edelbrock Performer is a good choice, and you can either run a computor controlled quadrajet with the distributor you have now.The ECM chip will have to be changed to one for a LG4.Or the simpler route you can swap out using a non-computor controlled carb and a distributor with vacuum/mechanical advance.Going this route you can discard the computor since it won't be controlling anything. But I advise against cutting up the harness just remove it with the rest of the components if you go this route.
