Rookie looking for performance
I have a chevy 305 tbi. Started getting into cars alittle while ago just got my license but i'm not sure what i can do. What can i do to give my car more power but on a very small budget. I'm only a teenager so i cant afford to spend thousands on a rebuilt. Anyone have some advice?
Thanks, Andrew

Do you have emmissions testing where you live? If not, do you ever plan to move the car out of state where testing may be required?
Start with the basics. Tune up and upgrade the easy and legal stuff first. Plugs, wires, air filter, etc. Install a lower temp fan switch, t-stat, and service the cooling system.
Then as your budget permits, upgrade the exhaust system with your choice of emmisions compliant headers, y-pipe, converter, and cat back.
A new set of rear gears will give it a kick in the performance felt department. Your options are to replace the existing gear set or swap out the entire rear end that's already loaded with at least 3.23 or 3.42 gears.
While you're considering what to do first or next, give some thought to the transmission. Does it have boo-koo miles on it?
The idea here is to keep it on the road trouble free and enjoyable.
Good luck
