Whaddya Guys Think

I'm asking for honest opinions here. I found a 1992 25th Anniversary RS for sale. It's a 305, stick, T-tops, and interior like new (so he says). The car is going for $4,500, but has 167,000 miles on it. It also supposedly runs like a dream. Do you think it's worth it. I really want the car, I just hope that all those miles don't equal a problem car. Thanks.

That is a high asking price. I got my car for $3750 after he was asking $4700. That was over 3 years ago and it had 140K with an clean interior.

They came with nothing special except a 25th anv. badge on interior and if you got the heritage package you have a different paint job. As for power windows and all that jazz, that was always an option in all thirdgens. There really is no difference between 91 and 92. Some say they had better sound deadening but I have yet to see any proof of that. People said that the later years (91-92) used more sound insulation because the metal "stamps" were getting old and all the bends in the metal weren't as good as the first few years. I think it's BS and nobody has been able to prove anything yet.

thats a trade in value of a car with 60 thousand miles on it. take him down a hundered bucks for every ten k over that price. i would give him about 3400. and thats only if its got new tires, brakes, etc.. and you take it to a shop and have them do a full inspection for 60 bucks.

DONT EVER BUY A USED CAR WITHOUT GETTING A FULL INSPECION ON IT FROM A REPUTABLE SHOP.

then ask the tech that inspected it if he would buy the car.

I just bought the same car, except auto. last year for $3100. Same exact miles. I was little too anxious. I should have looked it over better. I had to put on new shocks, front pads, tune it up, and it has a small dent in the right fender. So far add $200, plus the cost of the fender. They only had it for sale for 2 days, so they weren't willing to budge yet. It was the best I'd seen for 6wks straight though, and I was tired of looking. The interior is clean as hell, but the good old GM paint JUST started to leave home. It's that Purple Met. And yes, Van Nuys.

I think about $2800-$3000 would be a safe price to offer. That and it depends on how much it attracts you. Look it up in www.kbb.com. That'll give you an idea if it's fair. Just remember to that high milage can mean more than the regular milage deduction on the price. Ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings, U-joints, etc. It all adds up.
Do like snuf said, and get it checked out. I kinda wish I would've. At least then I would've know what else I had to spend.
