idle

how do I go about setting the idle on my 89 305tbi, it's idleing around 1200-1300 rpm...also I'm looking for a escm(mines missing) could that be the reason it idles high????

There is no way to manualy adjust the idle speed. It is controlled in the chip but can be adjusted if you burn your own chips. It sounds like you have a problem that is resulting in a high idle. Vacuum leaks, improper base timing or a lack of an ESC as you suggest can cause a high idle.

just the other day it start idling down...about 800 rpm...after it warmed up a little bit...and I still don't have a escm...and its now running fine....I've driven it 10 miles or so...when/what will I notice that the escm isn't there..and what will happen?....I do plan on getting one from a junk yard soon.
