I see alot of LT1 talk on the board, and I've decided to go for it and install an LT1 cam into my 305 TBI also. I found a pretty good deal on one, but have a question before I decide to buy it. What else do I need besides the cam? Do I need new lifters or springs? I have about 130,000 miles on my engine, so yeah, everything's pretty much worn. And if I do need new springs or lifters, do they need to be new, or can they be used from an LT1 also? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had 92000 miles on my lifters and springs and they are working fine with my used LT1 cam.Some say that you should change springs,I'm not having any trouble with my stock springs.I guess its up to you.And yes used lifters and springs from a LT1 would work fine if you need them.By the way, depending on the year cam you may have to grind down the pin to the hight of the pin on the lo3 cam.I had to and it wasn't a big deal.
