holley 670 cfm truck TBI
holley 670 cfm truck TBI
will it increase performance of my presently stock LO3?i see in jegs that there is one for the 87-89 5.0 truck motor,so i was thinking of getting that and a Performer RPM manifold to replace the stock manifold and tbi.i would also get a chip from fastchip made for that setup so the stock PROM wont get all messed up.what do you guys think?also what is the CFM rating and throttle bore sizes for the stock TBI?thanks for the help.

It would be completely wasted on an otherwise stock LO3. Start with a set of headers and replace the rest of the exhaut with 3" pipe. You'll need a larger throttle body and intkae manifold when you've done that and replaced the weak cam and heads. The stock TBI ha 1-11/16" bores, the Holley 670 TBI has 2" bores. I thik the cfm of the stock one is roughly 450-500 cfm.

yes, it can be done. fuel pressure increase is a must however, ive been working with the idea for a while, on and off the car etc..
results. 454tbi with slight increase in pressure caused the car to still run lean, increasing knock counts, retarding timing, decreasing milage drastically, and causing a lag off idle acceleration, which made my car seem like it had an higher stall converter, spin the tires and seemed to rev faster, but the minute i would get knock, the cars acceleration would die out as rpm increased, if cruising at 60, the ecm would correct the mixture, acceleration from hwy cruising was increased. all in all, chip changes are probably a necessity if you want a 454tbi on a stock or barely modified l03.
any more questions, feel free to email.
this is the third time ive posted the same comment this week.
i think im going to make a tbi faq.
