Vortec Heads, with an Edelbrock Intake questions

Here's my scenerio, i'm soon to be putting on some of the Vortec's with the Edelbrock Performer intake (vortc intake) and i have a question about clearance...should i be worried about it? am i gonna clear my stock hood, May i remind you that i do also have the 14x3 open air element from edelbrock as well...My mechanic keeps telling me to chekc it out, but I'd have to take off the intake to check it ( do the little equation they have made up for it). Has anyone here done the swap? has anyone had problems with the combination? any help is appreciated...

i have a 350 same hight as the 305 and i have vortec heads with edel preformer rmp and it really does not fit i had to jack up the hood and put the little edel foam air cleaner on to make it fit. but if you get the preformer it may fit.
