EGR again!
Well i was out cruising last night and I noticed my SES light came on after about 5 minutes of highway cruising at about 60mph (110kmph). I brought the car home and hooked it up to my computer and it was reporting EGR was failing. Last year I was having this problem so I replaced the EGR valve and solenoid. Well..this year its doign the same thing.
So I wonder. Anyone know how to test the egr valve to see if I bought a dud or the solenoid to see if its a blown unit?

Re: EGR again!
i had the same problem last year, all i did was i took some stp throttle body cleaner, a screw driver, and a wetvac and cleaned the connection out
haven't had an egr code since
how often do you drive the car is also my question, because if it was working for a year then id have to say you didnt buy a dud, but yes i believe there is a tool you can buy to test it, its like a vaccum tester

Re: EGR again!
oh I did the installation last year around september..it was doing it last year but I never bothered to troubleshoot cuz winter season was getting close. I parked the car and decided to try to lock this problem down this year. Here is the kicker though..the light comes on...and after about 10 minutes of driving it just opens on its own.
Re: EGR again!
How can I make sure My egr is hooked up properly? I keep gettign the same error code. I have a vacum line from the front pasenger side of the TB running back to the EGR. Thats it. I would think another vacuum line going from the egr to somewhere so the ECM can get it's signal would be needed. But I'm clueless.
I replaced the 305 with a 350 and to be honest, I didn't pay enough attention to how all the vac lines wre hooked up before I started disconnecting them.

Re: EGR again!
Should have a vacuum line going from the front of the throttle body to the EGR solenoid, then another one going from the solenoid to the EGR valve.
Re: EGR again!
Thanks for the reply. After actually taking the time to look on the underside of the hood, In actually saw a very detailed vacuum diagram. And it is exactly as you say.
Thanks
Thanks
