Thermac device..whats it do exactly and do I need it?

I'm thinking of getting an open element but I'm worried about not have a thermac device...whats it do exactly and do I really need it?

The thermac is a vacume powered valve in the air snorkel, in the winter it partially closes the inlet and lets warmer air in via. the foil tube over the left exhaust manifold. You can cut it out or go to open element just make sure you cap the vacume port on the throttle body.

my car isn't driven in the winter..so I really wouldn't need it no?. ..what do I plug the manifold with after I get the open element? ?

Engine: 355 mildly modified
Transmission: 700R4 fully modified
The thermac is used all year round to heat the engine so that it will go into closed loop sooner.

Plug the hole using a screw or vacuum plug in the vacuum line. If you don't your car will surge and sound funny...

So if I do this my car will take longer to get into "closed loop" ?? what is closed loop?

Closed loop is where the computer begins to take information from all of the sensors in the vehicle. Without being in closed loop the emmissions and some say performance, will be thrown off.

I agree with Shifty.Get the open element and install it.It was the biggest bang for the buck so far.Cost me $30 for mine.
