L03 TBI on a 350

i'm installing a L03 from an 88 Trans Am into an 81 Malibu that i have. By April/May i have plans to have a Chevy 350 ready for use. If i were to swap the L03 and the new 350, could i use the FI off of the L03 on the 350? i know i need bigger injectors, but do i need anything else?

U wouldn't just need bigger injectors, u also have to get a higher cfm TB unit itself. I beilve stock TBI's run 400cfm which isn't gonna be enough for a high hp 350 (I am guessing its slightly built up) Gotta remember, stock TBI's were designed for the LO3, 170hp and 255lbs of tq only. But like I said, u can try

Well, techincally, a stock TBI unit would work. You'd need new injectors, but it would work.

But like 305bird said, the stock tb wont flow enough. I belive cleaned up with the ult. TBI mods it flows about 430 cfm, which inst quite enough. There's a 454 tbi truck TBI which'll work, 2" primaries, but the Holly 670 would be the way to go. My friend picked his up for $190 with the 2" pro-jection intake manifold. A lot of people gripe over the injectors though. You should check that out...

Its gonna need a 350 PROM at the least too, and to get it tuned right you'll have to get into chip burning. Seriously i would just use a carb if you intend on making some HP. It'll be a lot less headache.

ok, bigger injectors and a Prom. I wanted to go throught this trouble not only for the experience but to get a little more mpg. This is still a daily driver and i want to be able to channel some of my paycheck elsewhere, not on refilling the tank all the time. And Of course i know the bigger the engine the more gas you're gonna use, end of story.

yeah definitely more air. i have had the original throttle body, the holley, and a 454 one on mine. its hard to tellwhich between the 454 nd holley worked better. right now, i am in the middle of getting the 454 base with my original injector pod on the car. we'll see what happens.

either way though, you will want to get a larger throttle body and definietly a chip burned.

Z28 boy, long time no hear. Still have the car? I'll have some new track times this coming up Wednesday when I should have the 3.73 and posi in. The tcc should be here sometime during the week (Continental ~2800 stall). It's a lockup so the stall speed isn't super important. The exhaust system I'm hopefully getting is the Borla adjustable (used from NJSpeeder) so when I uncap the exhaust I'm sure I'll be glad I have the little bit of extra stall speed.
As for the stock TB unit on a 350....it'll work just fine depending on what kind of heads and cam. If you have a lobe seperation number below 110 then I would sugest a carb to avoid spending $$$ on a good custom eprom. If the engine is around 280hp then the stock TB unit with 55# injectors and increased fuel pressure should work well enough for a daily driver.

yeah i still have the car. i just had to take care of a lot of stuff this summer so i couldnt really do too much with it. it was tough, but i had to kinda put school ahead of the car for once. what can i say? priorities suck. this whole "grown up" thing is driving me nuts.

but...after i get that engineering degree, just think of the camaro i could build....thats all i am looking forward to right now. it kinda keeps my head straight.

as usual though i am still trying to get the right combo on top of that intake. its between the holley, the 454, with any of three injector pods. i cant figure it all out.

We both did but still no actuall TB unit... .
Z28 boy, I hear ya, I'm in the same boat. School first but thankfully I got a really good paying job this summer and I've been lucky enough to come across some good deals ($175 for the tcc).
