If you go used, check the play in the shaft. Open the throttle valves a little and try to wiggle the shaft in different directions. The tighter the better haha.

Good tip...that statement can apply to so many things in life.

Like you I am hesitant to drop a wad of cash on a a TB re-furb if that ain't my problem. If a cheap JY unit makes a positive difference then I would have more confidence.
