haynes manuals
my camaro haynes manual doesnt include a TBI engine management wirring diagram. im not happy/ it has to be one of the most common engines in our cars. im getting very pissed off. no matter what i do i cannot get my car to run properly. i replaced the altenator today. still no results. i have literly thrown the kitchen sink at this engine. replaced fuel pressure regulator, collant temp sensor, altenator, igition coil, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, EGR(had to be replaced anyways), fuel pressure regulator, 02 sensor. what ever is wrong is with out a doubt electrical. something is pulling current away from the iginition coil (im guessing) when the cooling fan runs. it first i didnt know it was tied into the cooling fan. i have disconnected the block fan switch and i turn the fan on using the climate control unit A/C on. in what way is the iginition coil tied into the cooling fan, ECM, or igintion module? does this sound like power is being pulled from the ecm, coil, or igition control module? tach will sometimes drop to zero and will bounce all over the place. it doesnt even do it all of the time. car will run very poorly when this happens. if i would guess i could say something is grounding out the coil power source. i wish i could figure this out on my own. if you guys dont have any advice on how to fix this or where the problem might be im going to take it into a shop and spend $$$ fixing this. i wish i could figure it out on my own. if i send it in somewhere to have it looked at i havent learned anything except how to hand over hard earned money. i will spend the money if i have to but would rather fix it myself.
anyways dont buy a haynes manual if you have a TBI car. it covers TPI and v6's quite well but missing a wirring diagram for the TBI is something big in my opinion.

Re: haynes manuals
Haynes are garbage. I made the mistake of buying one for my '02. It doesn't include anything I needed nor does it give you any torque numbers.
Needless to say, I had to go to Amazon to order my Chilton

Don't know about the new Chilton manuels but the ones from years ago were almost, but not quite useless. Go to the Auto Zone web site, I just downloaded the engine wiring diagram for my 89 Camaro with a 305 TBI there. Even though I'm not a fan of Auto Zone, thier site is very helpful.

The chiltons I have has alot of info, as well as complete reprints of the factory f-body wiring diagram manual, which is around 100 pages.
