I've had my intake off once before to correct a leak situation from having the wrong type of gaskets (wrong material, correct application).

I made darn sure to RTV the coolant passages, and brush tacked the rest. I made a great big glob of RTV on the ends and in the corners using Permatex Ultra Black. And retorqued the bolts after 3 warm up / cool downs in the proper sequence.

The stupid a$$ thing still leaks!!!! It spooges oil out the rear AND from under the distributer gasket. Is there some funny thing that I should be doing here? I'm a perfectionist when it comes to gasket surfaces and stuff, so I don't see how in the hell it still leaks.

Please any rational suggestions. Any MacGuyver fixes?

I've done 3 intakes so far and no leaks. When you put the fat bead of silicone on the front and back did you run it up the sides of the heads a bit? Did you let it sit for a couple hours at least before you ran the car?

Do it again and let the RTV cure overnight and see if it helps. I always try to do this and have never had a leak. Good luck!

Yeah I tried that. I think it sat for 2 days before I drove it. I ran RTV up the heads at the corners too. I don't think this intake was milled true.

Something sure sounds fishy with it as you have done everything correct that I can tell. I see now that you are going with another intake. I hope that will help as the little problems sometimes get old when nothing seems to help.

What are you cleaning the surfaces with before the intake install? if it is a residual cleaner (leaves residue) then you can get leaks like that. Especially with Ultra Black.

I only use laquer (sp) thinner to clean the surface that are to use Ultra Black. I recommend you do the same. Wicked cheap.

Also, your intake may be permanently tweaked if it was EVER torqued improperly in the past. If you bought it new, you may be ok if you torqued properly but it may be permamently warped... Especially of you retorque only a couple (ie not all of them!) bolts after some startup cycles. AL intakes don't like that at all.
