hard start + hunting @ idle?

Hey all. Anybody ever have both of these problems turn up at the same time or do I have two unrelated things wrong? So far I've cleaned the injectors, cleaned + gapped plugs, new cap/rotor/wires, checked all wiring, checked tps, tore the tbi off and rebuilt it with all new gaskets (needed to be done anyways). Any advice on next steps? Thanx tons for any ideas

oops- forgot to mention i think that was one of the first things i looked for. The only thing I didn't check was for manifold leaks at the block/heads (guess I was just hoping that wasn't it). I tried to bypass the EST/ESC to check the timing this morning, but then it wouldn't run at all. With the MAP sensor disconnected it ran better, so I swapped out the sensor with a good one and it went back to hunting. !! I'm lost so far...

Still sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Especially if you removed the map and it runs better. Removing it would show atmospheric pressure (if you keep it hooked up but just disconnected the vacuum line). The ecm would then increase fuel to compensate for the false load on the engine. You need to find the leak! Keep the MAP sensor hookedup and then pinch the other vacuum lines at the manifold/TB unit. If you're sitting, you can even pull off and pinch the power brake vacuum line. Make sure their isn't a vacuum leak at your fuel evap canister. Definatly sounds like a lean problem because of a vacuum leak! Good luck
