Headers, Shorties or Longtubes?

What are the best headers to put on my 305 tbi (92 Firebird).....Shorties? I was thinking on long tubes, but someone told me that on a 305, you won't really notice the diffence betwee shorties or long tubes? I'm new at this, just looking for some advice. What brands are the best? HEDMAN? HOOKER? SLP?

shorties are gonna be the way to go with a 305. the full lengths have enough volume that they will cause what is known as "draft through" during the overlap in the valves. this is when the exhaust is so free flowing compared to the volume of air the engien is using that part of your intaek charge gets sucked right out through the exhaust before it is used. a good example of this is top fuel cars, they can live with it since they make 6000hp, the story is a bit different for those of us stuck here in the real world
