Hi Im new to this site and I had recently tried to modify the TBI on my 305 camaro {92 rs with 43000 miles}i actually had removed the ridge on the throttle body and on the first try i could only remove about half of the ridge on tbi and i installed everything back on the car and everything worked fine and again yesterday i had removed the tbi and removed the compete ridge on the tbi and also i had installed two gaskets under the tbi unit everything else is stock and ive been noticing erratic idling from the engine and also the idling is higher than usual especially when ever i engage it in drive or reverse{ its an automatic} the idle speeds increases to about 1200 before the mod it had idle speed about 800 even when its enaged in drive.. when i tried to start it now it stalled and i tried it again and it just starts and stalls but after some heating up the engine doesnot stall but it does have erratic and high idle , can anyone tell me what this is, if its a problem with the tbi or the modification or if there is another problem , as this is my daily driver to school and and back and work. this car has a k&n filter and stock airbox and flowmaster american thunder muffler.

Hmm, make sure ur throttle body butterfly flaps are all the way down during idle. You might have messed up ur TPS setting. (I think thats the thing that controls the idle) Nic (the moderator) or someone on here like NJ Speedster should know how to trouble shoot this. You just have to go all the way back to square one (the stuipd stuff u might have missed) all the way to the detailed stuff.

VACUUM LEAK!!
You are showing all the signs of a vac leak. Double check that you have everything hookedup. A vacuum leak will produce a higher engine speed but it's lean. When it's lean it's more likely to stall. I would look to make sure all the TBI vacuum fittings are either hookedup or plugged, sounds like you forgot about one.

double gaskets are bad. Don't do that. That is your vaccume leak.

Thanks guys!! now its idling at some where around 1200 to 1500 and also when its cold the engine stalls and also the new problem is that the service engine soon light is showing up so i dont know what to do, if i need to get a new tbi then im almost dead... i checked all the connections and everything seems fine, may be i will take out the double gasket and replace it with a single gasket. anyother suggestions lemme know. and also while drving to university today i noticed one thing and its for sure , the car is running on too lean a mixture may be cos of the flowmasters and kn filter.. is it a good idea to replace the injectors? how much do they cost around? help appreciated.
You want to hear a double gasket story? My cousins were coming down from nothern CA. They had a new 383 and were doing all the oil changes their machinest told them to. Well one rubber oil filter gasket stuck to the block. When the next oil filter was put on it had 2 gaskets. All the oil escaped and the engine blew off its valve covers like TNT right after it got down here. True story.
