Just replaced tranny mount
Well I replaced my tranny mount finally. The old piece was a joke. It fell apart in my hand and I could move it around in all directions because of a huge wrip in the rubber. That fixed the wheel hope problem and the banging when shifting. Now I have another problem....cat converter. I've been running a bit on the rich side and I think my cat quit on me. I hear a rattle when driving and I can only imagine there is a huge ball in my cat now. That's what happens when you let a tranny mount stay broken for too long and run rich. Time to gut the poor thing. I'm just glad it got me past inspection a couple months ago.
I finally got my website working and there are some tech articles like how to remove the heater valve and go to the old school system. Still working on parts but there are a bunch of new pictures up.

i hope you replaced your tranny mount with a poly bushing one. I replaced my stock mount with another stock mount, only to have it break again within about 48 hrs. got a new poly mount from summit for like $20, I've had that for a year, no probs.

Of course it's poly, same as my motor mounts and rear suspension
. I need to get a torque arm bushing and replace my speedo gear so it shows 65mph instead of 100mph!
BTW: To do the tranny mount, it's easy. Helps a lot if you can get a creeper. Jack up the whole car, unbolt tranny mount nut. Get a jack with a piece of wood under your tranny pan. Make sure the wood comes close to the perimeter of the pan so as not to dent the pan. Have a friend jack up the tranny slightly. Next you'll need a 13mm socket for the bolts on the tranny. It's a simple job except for the fact that my poly mount was the GM universal unit. No problem really except for the fact that the bolt doesn't exactly fit through the crossmember slot! So I had to remove the whole crossmember and do a little grinding with a dremel tool. All better, reinstalled crossmember and installed poly mount. It was easiest to keep the crossmember loose and install the tranny mount bolts loose. Then tighten crossmember etc. It all worked out good until I noticed my cat was clogged

good work jon...although im not impressed by what you've said...if u coulda saw what i did to my tranny mount and torque arm bushing u woulda died...BTW the torque arm bushing is a PITA but it got rid of my massive wheel hop problem...now its just flat spin instead : )
JPrevost,
Just to let you know, GM sells external ratio adapters that you screw in between the speedo cable and the tranny. These can slow down that speedo without even taking the tranny apart.
I bought mine from the GM dealer to compensate for my 3.03 to 3.73 swap. It works beautifully, although I think I can hear it sometimes on the highway.
Don't know if you knew about these or not, just wanted to let you know.
