I have a 90 camaro rs 305 tbi and its mainly stock : 3" open air element, flowmaster muffler welded in to my stock 2 1/4" ezhaust, catalytic converter cut out and a strait piece of pipe put in its place(made a preety good difference) and bosch platinum spark plugs. I WANT MORE POWER!!!(dosent everyone?) i just got a 85 z28 with a tpi 305 from one of my friends. motor runs and all but it needs 2 much work. wat can i swap off of the z28 and put on my rs that will help with power? both cars have 700r4 auto trans. i was wondering if swapping the heads would help at all but my rs has the centerbolt heads and the z28 dosent does that matter at all? any help would be awesome thanks

 

Youll need to mod your current intake to use the TPI heads or entire engine as the intake bolt angles are different. If the TPI car came with a good rear with limited slip and/or a better gearset, you can steal that as well.

If you want more power you might want to look into building that 350 up....everyone says its better to build a 350 than to mod a 305.

I mean, I have a 305 TBI but am keeping it because everyone has 350's especially tpi.

That and I dont feel like swapping....I just want to buy another 3rd Gen with a 350 already in it....but thats me.

 

the Z28 has a 305 not a 350 its a tpi not a tbi like my RS. what gears came in 85 Z28s? i know that my 90 RS has 2.73 gears and a open rear end(which i hate) does the 85 Z28 have a limited slip? or atleast better gears?

 

Could check the RPO codes on the underside of the console. Or, take teh cover off and have a look at the diff/gearset.
