88 TBI Idles Rough/Stalls when Cold
Any good starting points to check why my 88 Idles Rough and even stalls when cold, but given a five minutes or so straightens out?
It also smells like it's running extremely rich as well.
Thanks in advance,

Mine did this same thing, tried CTS and MAT, no change
Timing was 4.5* retarded!
Set it 4.5* (base) advanced
Its awesome now!
(Was only when it was cold to, pull up to a stop sign, it would almost stall then catch itself, and sputter when giving it the gasd, but get alot better when warm, all it was was timing)

Re: 88 TBI Idles Rough/Stalls when Cold
My TBI unit was leaking. It would slowly dribble down one barrel, as evidenced by the thick layer of black goo around that area. Just something to keep in mind.
It would hard-start when cold, miss slightly at idle when warm(but only at idle), and occasionally stall when car warmed up and super cold out.

Biggest clue right there. Make sure timing is correct(and ignition working properly!), and look for fuel leaks. No leaks?? Well, then I'd look at why the computer is dumping in more fuel than your need.
Or(worst case scenario), your engine isn't getting the air it's used to. Thats usually the hardest to fix.
