anyone know how much vac at idle

my car has about 8-9 inches at idle and it runs really rich until i get going,what am i supposed to have?

That's pretty low for idle. Is the engine stock?

yeah the motor is a stock 87 truck 350 its in a 89 formula that originally came with a TBI 305 the 305 died and i got a good deal on the motor
