I am replacing my intake manifold with an edelbrock manifold and was wondering how could I clean up my stock TBI without having to take it apart...

Basically can I soak it in an alcohol or something? Or spray it with engine degreaser then wash clean and let dry for 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 days to ensure no water is still on it or in it?

You have a couple choices.

First of all, water doesn't cut grease, unless you want to mix some simple green with it or something.

I would suggest:

1. Gasoline (Please do this outside in the middle of your driveway in the dirt, or on the pavement, WAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT CAN CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE I DON"T WANT TO BE LIABLE FOR YOUR DEATH, more importantly i don't want to hear you dying because of something happeneing).

2. The safer but more expensive method is to get a gallon of "Gunk Parts Cleaner" from the local auto parts store.

I almost forgot, grab your childrens old tooth brushes, or the one for the dog.

I like to save the old toothbrushes and throw them in the dishwasher a few times and keep them in my shop for just this reason! If you want to burn some money go buy some new ones, or get some cleaning brushes from the store when you go to get the gunk parts cleaner.

Last time I had mine off I took off the whole TBI from the manifold, and took it apart, removed the injectors, set them aside, removed all sensors, scraped off all the old gasket material, cleaned every piece throughly with a toothbrush and gasoline in a large oil catch tin, and re-assembled it with a $7 TBI gasket kit from Autozone. It was fun, I'd recommend it. Don't do it indoors. Make sure you get inside all those vacuum ports on the underside of the base...they tend to get really full of crap. Gasoline is the perfect thing to clean with, its cheap, it evaporates in no time at all, and you don't really have to worry about get drying it all out because a lot of the TBI unit is coated with gasoline during normal operation anyway.

Any suggestions for a Holley injector that drips occasionally? I've actually only seen one drop fall while in operation, but I figured there must be a bad o ring in there. While I'm cleaning it out, will an o ring fix this problem?

Naphtha (AKA lighter fluid) also works very well as a degreaser and is relatively inexpensive.

CJ, what year is the holley? Does it have teh black caps on top of the injectors?
