how necessary is the EVAP purge solenoid
Trying to eliminate clutter with my new intake and I'm on the fence about the purge solenoid. On the charcoal canister there is one port thats plugged off that says "Air Cleaner" and the one in use that says "Purge". Logic tells me I can just run a line from the "Air Cleaner" port to the air cleaner and it would still do its thing but I thought I'd ask first. This is on a 95 FSC TBI 350.

Re: how necessary is the EVAP purge solenoid
the purge solenoid is very important.
with out it, the motor will pull vapor from the canister all the time & cause it to run either too rich or too lean causing poor fuel mileage, poor performance & fail emissions.
the port marked Air Cleaner is for canisters that don't have the filter on the bottom to draw clean air through. plugging the the purge port & hooking up the air cleaner port would do about the same as just removing the canister.
