It blows black smoke at idle and reeks.

A week ago the idle was wandering, and heater quit working due to vacum leak. So I found a broken vacum line on the back of the intake manifold, swapped a couple lines around, now the heater works, and the engine seems to have more vacum, idle is back to 750. But my MPG went from 25 down to 13, it blows black smoke, and reeks of fuel. Even more so when cold.

Any sugesstions greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss. Also where could that vacum line have been going? it seemed to run down the back of the motor.

 

Check the vacuum line that goes to the MAP sensor. It should be connected to the center port on the rear of the TBI unit. Between the fuel line fittings.

Thanks, though I'm a little confused. There are 2 sensors that have vacum lines running too them, which is the MAP? The lines running to both look solid.

 

MAP sensor:

Small plastic box at the top of the firewall, toward passenger side (US roads), Has a vacuum port/line out the bottom, and a 3-wire connector in front of the vac port.

The hard lines to the map, and the egr were both cracked. un plugged the map at first, and it actually ran better.

I have owned this car for over a year, and it has never run this smooth, sounded so good or smelled so little. Its like a whole different car, I can't beleive I thought about selling it.
