I have a diagreement with the Boy of mine about the approx Horsepower my 89 L03 Engine when the Mods are finished. I say around 230hp he says around 300hp.
The following Mod's are done with the Headers being installed...
Runs great already...

GM LT1 Cam, Pt# 10243779.
Edelbrock TBI Intake (3704).
Ported & Reworked Stock Heads
CFM-Tech 620 cfm Thottle Body.
Hedman Shorty Headers.
3" Cat Back Exhaust.
MSD Ignition System.
Turned Computer Chip.
Performance Fuel Pump.
Open Element Air Cleaner.

Anyone got a ball park guess?

I'd say anywhere from 260 hp - 300 hp at the crank depending on how much you work the heads

 

I would say with the right tuning you would probably fall around 250hp. 300 might be pushing it but you never know.

 

Thank you. I think the 250 - 260 HP could be right. My buddies 89 GTA LB9 230 HP that is stock except for Air Cleaner would stomp the L03 pretty bad before, but he can't do that now. They are pretty even and I don't have the headers on yet. I think he's got 3.23 gears where I have 3.42. The Kid is saying I should gain 50 HP with the Headers. I just don't think you get that much with a street machine. Maybe he's right. will see.

On even a hot street engine you would be lucky to see a 20hp gain with headers. I think that you would see a 10 to 15hp improvemant over the stock manifolds at Peak hp.

 

with headers and full exhaust and tuning 30 hp is not un heard of
