Re: hei 350?
Hei just stands for high energy ignition, its only about the distributor it comes with. I believe all camaros 82-92 were factory hei. More importantly, what did this motor come out of?

Re: hei 350?
And follow the sticky at the top of the forum.....there is a LOT that needs changed to swap a 305 for a 350.
Re: hei 350?
you might have to change oil pan and like someone else already said you well need to change your dist. Your gonna also run into a poss. oil dipstick problem. yours is on the passenger side and your truck motor is most likely going to be on driverside which is going to cause cleance problems with stock exuast manifolds. be sure to look at truck motor real close so your not trying to cobble oil dipstick up after you already got your new motor in car, laugh now but it well cause u a headahe if you dont see the problem before u put it all the way in with no plan on how to route the dipstick!! one last note if u do have to change the oil pan?? look close to see if the dipstick goes in on the deck of the block or if it channels in close to oil pan? if by the pan your going to have fun finding one that well fit in your car and that also has dipstick on the same side of your truck block. This is only a problem i once ran into with my 85 bird after putting a 350 from a 72 fullsize truck! goodluck

Steve,
I'm sure you mean well bud, but to simply put it......you're wrong. At the very minimum you HAVE to change the injectors and chip. To do it right you need to change the knock sensor and spark module too.
I'm sure your's runs fine but take it from the folks that have actually datalogged and tuned 350 swaps, there is a lot that needs changed in the chip to make them run well.

Steve,
Your post's are painful to read.....it's not that hard to type in complete sentences it's only polite to the people you are trying to communicate with.
To answer you question, yes I have done it before. Actually I've done it to no less than a dozen vehicles here locally and I've helped quite a few people over the net. In fact if you look at the top of the forum I have two of my threads stickied, the 350 swap thread and the "free tune" thread which explaines how to tune.
I'm not trying to be rude but your spreading miss or partial information, and it's only going to confuse people. I take care to proof read every one of my post and run spell check on them, even then it's hard for people to comprehend what I'm trying to tell them. Spouting off half the needed info in interenet "jargon" isn't going to do many people good.

Re: hei 350?
LIsten stevo what we have here is a 1960s 350 chevy out of a truck! What are you talking about injectors out of a t.b.i for? His RS isnt a t.b.i! I know the truck isnt! First things first. 1 Is the truck oil pan going to clear front cross member? 2 How does he fix that problem if it does not? I think you should go back in read Mr. Maro first post! It will not i repeat will not just bolt right up even if he gets lucky in it does clear, How does the dipstick clear his factory Exhuast Manifolds???? Have you looked at a chevy lately? They changed the oil dipstick location! Quit paying people to do your work or quit writting on here like your Mr.Goodwrench!

Re: hei 350?
Mr. Maro,
Please ignore this internet skid mark and take my advice.
Read through the 305 to 350 swap thread it will explain EVERYTHING you need to know in order to swap in a 350. Regardless of what Steve say's you NEED a 350 chip to go with the injectors. You can get by without the knock sensor and spark module but these will help the motor run the way the general intended.
As for the oil pan.....they're all the same. The only difference is between the 1-piece and 2-piece rear main blocks. As long as the pan bolts to your block it will fit in your camaro. Also the dipstick is a minor issue, again if you have the one for the block you should be good to go.
Steve.......please for the love of God work on your grammer. I feel dumber after reading your posts. I'm sure you are a knowledgable guy, but your rambling posts make you look like a knuckle dragger who figured out how to turn on a computer.
