Re: Open Element filter

14"x3" Open Element, thats what I put on mine. I bought an Edelbrock Open Element and then replaced the paper filter it came with with a K&N 14" x 3" filter. The one I bought is a drop base, cause that's the only kind I could find locally, it sits real close to the coil, so I wrapped the coil with electrical tape to make sure it wouldn't cause a short. I've heard a flat base is the best to go with, cause it's supposed to have better clearance for the coil. I couldn't find one locally, but the drop base has worked fine for me, just have to check the coil every once in a while and make sure there is no rubbing with the coil.

Re: Open Element filter

If you go to K&N's website they have a base that I bought due to my filter hitting my Daytona hood.

Its an offset base which moves the filter 1 1/2" towards the front of the car.

Here it is: Scroll down HALF way
