Rebuilding LO5
I got a rebuild kit for my 350 (just gaskets) But while i have my engine apart i thought i would do some mods while i have it out. I drive a 94 Z71 with the 4L60E and the TBI 350 LO5 Im looking to get about 40 more hp out of her these are my plans. and any suggestions on what cam i should use??
-Ultimate TBI mods
-3" Dual flowmasters w/ no cat dumped before rear axle
-hooker headers
-edelbrock performer rpm intake manifold (with carb adapter plate)
-MSD 6AL
-MSD cap and rotor
-Underdrive pulleys
-Cam (thinking about edelbrock 3702)
-E-fans
Also where i live emissions dont matter so i can basically do anything to get hp without ever worrying about that. I was thinking of advancing my timing a little bit gas is only 85c a litre up here right now and I need the extra power for pulling my trailer. any help on a cam or any comments suggestions would be awsome thanks.

Re: Rebuilding LO5
An LT1 cam or a RamJet cam which is the same cam in the HT383 crate engine. Lots torque down low for a truck. A set of vortec heads alone will almost get you the 40 more hp but you would need a vortec specific intake. But if you plan to use a performer rpm manifold anyway you can just get one that fits vortec heads. That is if you want to go that route.

I forgot to forgot to mention that when changing the cam and/or cylinder heads, you're going to need to modify the programming in your computer chip. Otherwise it won't run properly. Luckily, your truck is a 94 so you've got the good PCM for the TBI's.

The vortec heads will gain 40hp!? Well maybe ill just get a set of those and work around them... I was thinking about doing the vortec head swap but i thought it would only be like 5 hp or something and like 15 with a port job.

It will get you close to a 40 horsepower gain. I'll be conservative and say 20 to 25 at least. The Vortec heads and an LT1 cam should be close to 275 horsepower. Stock, an L31(Vortec 350) makes 255hp and that's with a smaller cam than an LT1. But the LT1 cam is a roller cam. If you're going to use a non roller cam you can find one with similar specs to an LT1.

I might be mistaken but I think you could easily convert your engine to a roller. If you've got the stud bosses for the spider tray in the lifter valley all you need is roller lifters, the lifter retainer, spider tray and of course the roller cam. Ask TBI-Max. He's got a 95 Suburban and he's converting his to a roller. Your block should be the same as his.
