Intake Replace

I am replacing my intake, because there is a small crack at the ft edge & it has leaked a small amount of coolant for two years, & also my egr intake passage is clogged.

My ques is, when i use rtv silocone to seal the back & front, do i assemble rite away or do i let the rtv fully cure first. Also do i need ro put some rtv on the intake gasket??

Re: Intake Replace

Assemble it right away before it cures. Use RTV on the intake gasket at the coolant passages but NOT around the intake ports-and don't use too much. A thin film is fine.

That depends on the manufacturer of the sealer. read the tube some recommend letting it sit for 10 minutes or so till it developes a "skin ".
Make sure you put a little in the corners then put the gaskets in place then lay a bead of sealer on the china wall to make sure you have the gaps in the corner covered. The sealer around the water ports again may not be necesary depending on the quality of gaskets you use. I always did it any way, like Racer said thin file is plenty.
