Car: 88 Formula
Engine: 305 TBI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 2.73
Few Questions.
hi, i have a 88 formula 305 TBI, rebuilt engine, not sure about trans.
Car has 135k, some mods include flowmaster 80 series exhaust, cat delete, open element air filter, 160 stat + fan switch.
Well, when i shift from park to drive it takes about 3 secs? its always done that so it hasnt gotten worse, u think it could be a shift cable?
Also, i did a complete tune up, i used NGK platinum spark plugs and Hypertech ignition coil and Cap/Rotor, also had a shop install a new starter and alternator.
Well now when i started the car, especially in winter, it idles at 1,500 rpms untell it warms up, is that normal? Also when warned up, my alternator levels go below 13 and my headlights and gauges dem till i give it gas, you think this could be too much voltage from the hypertech ignition coil? i think its 53,000 volts versus the stock 38,000 ? could be messing my idle up, not sure, i had the alternator checked and it was fine, however it wasnt going below 13 for them like its doing for me, maybe its that, who knows, but i know when the idle is higher everythings fine, it seems to idle pretty low, like 500-600 rpms, moves a bit too.
