FNG checking on board...

I need some technical help from all of you. I am totally new to this site and as you can see by my thread count....you'll know why I am asking these questions.

First, the situation.

Here is what I have for a vehicle and all that makes it go....


1966 Chevy II Nova 2-door Hard top
355 cid 10.5 to 1 comp ratio
Comp Cams XE274 H flat tappet cam 1.5 roller tipped rocker arms
461 casting heads 1.94 / 1.50 stainless steel valves 64 cc
flat top hyperuetic pistons
Eddy 600 CFM carb and RPM intake
200-4R 23-2500 stall
4.10 posi



And now the technical question.

What system would be beneficial for my set-up? With my comp ratio and power band, would this be too much for a TBI set-up? I don't want to change out any parts since its been rock solid for 3 yrs now.

I thought about the 700 and 900 cfm 4 barrel set-ups but was wondering if I was going to run into some programing issues with my cam and C/R. I was going to go with the MPFI but after finding out that I needed to spend about 500 dollars into fine tuning chips, I thought of going TBI. Any and all help appreciated.

you will stil have to fine tune ch ips for tbi..id run a carburetor, preferably holley or demon carburetion.

You wouldn't run a carb you couldn't change the jets in would you? Then why run a FI setup you can't tune?

Every FI system be in stock or aftermarket REQUIRES tuning no matter what the manufacturer says. The methode of actually uploading the tune and the software used is the only major difference between stock and aftermarket.

Stock FI systems like TBI or TPI use replacable chips that require about 150$ worth of equipment to burn new chips. There are products that allow you to simply upload the file or change without shutting off the car, it runs around 250-350$.

Most aftermarket ECM's have this "flash" ability built in so they don't require a burner.......but the cost of the ECM's far out weight the cost of the DIY equipment needed to tune stock ECM's.

If your primary goal is pure performance and easy setup and tuning then carburetion is for you.

If the drivability and fuel mileage advantage along with full power no matter what the temperature, elevation, and weather condition and you are willing to put in the work it takes to learn to tune it, FI is more your style.

This is my specsrevious crossfire vette. 350 cid, xram, 2.0 TB's, 454 injectors, edel rpm aluminum 64 cc heads, crame 2040 cam 210/216 @.05, crane roller rockers, ceramic hedman 1 5/8 headers, dual exhaust/crossover, hooker aero chambers, 7747. Innovative WB.
CHANGES COMPLETED 10/13/2004:
7.4L TB on Holley TBI manifold(Projection), Summit AC with K & N, Aeromotive FP reg, Comp Cams 224/230 @.05 114 LSA, Innovative input of tps/rpm/map data.
09/2005 fresh paint(red of course)
08/16/2006 added Prominator- 8746 ECU with EBL, IAT sensor being added following week.
05/2007 wired the WB controler to hide in glovebx with a digital A/F analog output gauge(blue)
06/2007 replaced stock wheels with chrome AFS ZR1 17x11 and 17 x 9.5

I think 80 or 90 lb injectors in a 7.4L GM TB will provide adequate air and fuel. Not sure what the limit is for HP but you engine should be OK. A VAFPR will help with idle fueling if you need to go heavy on fuel pressure.
