Re: Mph gauge going up and down

Is your car a manual trany or auto? What year is it? Does the speedo move up an down while you are driving? It could be either a speed sensor, which is located at the transmission, or a bad speedometer. Does your car have cruse control? If it does, does the cruse control work properly while the speedo moves up and down? If the cruse works fine, but the speedo moves up and down, than you might have a speedometer issue. If the cruse also malfunctions, than it is the speed sensor. I think the speed sensor is a lot cheaper than the speedo.
