Re: Lifter Ticking

Actualy I just have a ticking sound and took it into a mechanic and he told me it would be better just to replace the engine. Do you think this is the best option because if it is then I will just run the engine till it quits and then replace it.

Where is a good place to order a 305 or 350 engine and the wireing harness?

Alright, your getting ahead of yourself...

Are you sure its a lifter? If so, did you try changing the oil?

Re: Lifter Ticking

Before you completely change the oil, pull your oil filter off. Put in half a quart of transmission fluid if you have a short filter or a full quart if you have a long filter. Put on a new filter and crank the car. Drive it around for 10-20 miles or so. Then change your oil and filter as usual. If you have a lifter sticking, the transmission fluid will clean it off so it will go back to normal.

If that doesn't help, let us know.

No I am not sure its a lifter ticking. Thats what the mechanic said it was. I will have the oil changed tomorrow and see the results.
