Reviving My "Conan The Destroyer" Project, TPI Swap To TBI....
Well, I recently sold my Corvette, and am now contemplating selling my LS1 daily driver. The '91 Formula will remain though, as I don't have the heart to get rid of it, Third Gens have this unbelievable stronghold on me....
Although the Formula employs an LB9, I decided to put the plans that I had for it on hold, and revive my old "Conan" project, just to see how well it will do at the track. Now, before the TPI'ers have a heart-attack, I'm not selling the TPI system, I'm just putting it on hold for now....
The Holley Projection intake is just about done, the rest of the port work will only take a few hours to complete. The throttle body is just about done as well, just tying up a few loose ends with it. Trying to find a happy medium between work and play, so it'll probably take some time until all is said and done, but I will definitely update this thread accordingly....
Going to be using the '91 Formula in my sig. Here's a few pictures of the setup for now. I started modifying the ProJection intake manifold for a reason, just in case I wanted to throw on a carburetor, and/or a 4-barrel throttle body. Not that I'm going to, but it's a nice luxury knowing that I now can, while retaining the EGR to pass visual emissions. But I'm definitely re-using the stock throttle body that I enlarged. Although the picture of the intake ports are shown as a comparison (left is obviously ported, right is stock), all ports have been finished to date. All that's left is smoothing out the plenum....

Interesting. I haven't seen your initial posts on this project so I'm not sure where it's going ultimately. All I can say is that going tbi is not a bad thing. Done right you will be surprised with what it can do. My z28 383 was choked even with the TPIS big mouth intake, runners and 58mm TB. I chose the HSR for an easier swap. Sure, it may lose some low end grunt but thats what a stall is for.

^ Thanks...
The HSR will cost you some low end grunt, but this can be made up with an entirely different camshaft. One of my buddies threw an HSR on his L98, lost some low end, but then immediately got it back when he installed a TR camshaft ground specifically for his needs....
The TBI project above is going to be a slow process, unfortunately, but I should have some videos up on youtube of it in the near future. Right now I'm focusing more on Grand National's, as I might have a trade for one w/the '98 Trans Am in my siggie. Here's a small clip of my buddy Paul in his ten second Grand National, Click Here....

Looks cool, I like that TBI unit, but what engine will be under it all? Stock LB9?
What's up r90? Haven't seen you around in a long time

It's going on top of a 350. Really want to see what it will run with that setup, hoping for elevens, but we shall see once the tuning process begins. Eventually boosting the L98 w/BBS setup and T-67, and while I'm preparing/hogging out the stock TPI setup for the turbo, I figured I see if I can make the above TBI setup compatible with the same turbo setup....
