Distributor Identification
Apparently there were two model number HEI distributors out there. I have a 1992 RS. I've got a little ignition problem and I just wondered if there was a way to visually tell the difference between the 1103749 and the 1103880?? Or is it just the difference between an in-cap and external coil HEI system. And does anyone know where to find these numbers where they are stamped into the distributor??

Re: Distributor Identification
The number is stamped into the bottom of the base plate. Of two small cap SBC distributors here one is 1103698 and the other is 1103952. The second was pulled from a full size van ('90-ish) with a 350.
One physical difference in the small cap distributors is for the B-body cars. The base where it enters the intake manifold is larger in diameter. Same with the opening in the intake manifold. This is to be able to r&r the distributor. The engine is set back under a little.
