TBI Thread, post your car specs.

Well i've seen the miles thread, but i haven't seen a thread for specs and all that good stuff, i'm bored!

88 Formula 305 TBI *135k miles*
Flowmaster 80-Series Cat-Back. *Cat Delete*
Hypertech 160 Stat / Fan Switch.
Edelbrock Open-Element w/ K&N Filter.

Brand new paint job, all rust removed, new fiberglass wrap around replacement wing added, and Ram Air II hood. Bright Red along with some 16" Torque Thrust II's.

Throwing some headers on it soon, probably Hookers, lol it already sounds like a beast just from removing the cat.. huge difference.

It acutally burns the tires impressively from a stop, even with a non-posi 2.73 rear end, some of my friends tbi's cant do that haha, i hope to get a posi rear end soon with some 3.73's, maybe an engine swap in the future lol.

I'll post some pics soon.

I have a powertrax locker I need to put in. I put polly urethane engine and transmission mouts in, working on getting the rest done for the suspension.
Has shorty headers, 2'' y pipes to 3'' high flow cat and a flowmaster muffler.
Still working on it.

Re: TBI Thread, post your car specs.

Buying back my ol' 89 RS from a friend, on wednesday.

Its going to be my project for this year. My goal is to reach 13s by spring, and maybe 12s by the end of this year, with the 305. And believe me, It will happen

1989 Camaro RS A4

305 TBI
Catback
!Cat!
3" open element K&N
160 stat
9bolt disc brake rear, 3.45 gears
!AC, !front swaybar, !power steering, replaced w/manual steering, !interior,
Basically, lots of weight reduction
Rebuilt 700R4 sitting here

Mods that will be done by or before this spring

3400-3600 stall converter
lock up kit
4.10 gears
!bumper supports! and more weight reduction
headers, exhaust, dumped before axle
some porting of the TB
edlebrock performer intake
Drag Radials
LS1 Aluminum DS
suspension
5% tint

Later in the year-

Aluminum L98 Heads
LT1 Cam
Carb
N20?

Yes, I know its "Just a 305." "Why bother?" Because im curious as to what i can get out of the 305. This will be a fun experience. Im not buying all of this stuff brand new either. I am on a budget. If i want to go low 11's or faster this year, I will hop on my sportbike. I will document my gains as far as ET and MPH with each mod that i have done. I will also try to get the car weighed to document that as well. another thing I will do is list how much i paid for each part or list if i already had it sitting here.

Re: TBI Thread, post your car specs.

i have a 92 Camaro RS with a stock 305 tbi with 288,000 mile on it (still has original engine and trans) the onley mods are a flowmaster exhaust and a k&n air filter othere than that the hole cars stock for now

but i eventually want to swap the 305 out to a 350 or 383 i dont plan to modify the 305 cause well it a 305 with 288,000 miles so im just going to save for a better engine. and i want to get a posi rear end for it. i also plan on get it repainted and get some of the chrome iroc rims for it

Re: TBI Thread, post your car specs.

I have very little done to my car as far as performance upgrades go,

-kyb shocks/struts
-Magnaflow muffler
-3" pipes all the way back to cat (soon to cut cat out)
-8.8mm MSD wireset
-Bluestreak? distributor cap/rotor
-3.42 posi

Yea I know, lame right? but I'm on a tight budget... I was just wondering what is the lowest 1/4 mile time I could get with my 305 L03 tbi, after boring .04 over with high compression alluminum pistons, high performance heads (havent looked much into that) alluminum camshaft... and way too many to list... Basically I just want to know what the lowest achievalbe 1/4 mile time with a 305 L03

The best ET I've gotten in it was 10.00s @ 67.84mph in the 1/8th. I've gotten up to 67.99mph but I believe that was in 10.04 seconds. So yeah, it's slow. But it is slowly getting faster. I've got some 416 heads that need port work, a ZZ4 cam, an edelbrock Performer manifold w/TBI adapter, and a BBC throttle body waiting for it, but I have neither time nor money to put that stuff in yet. I'll be getting an EBL Flash to go with it so that is another $400 or so right there. Not to mention this car has gone to the way way back burner right now since I have big block ford project going for my wife's Mercury Montego.

Re: TBI Thread, post your car specs.

1991 RS 305 TBI - 114k

Engine / Trans:
14" one inch drop base Edelbrock Elite air cleaner
Edelbrock TBI Performer intake
Hypercrap Stage 2 with 160 stat (came with car)
Magnaflow cat and 3" catback
Pro 5.0 shifter with red bowtie MBA ****
***Adding Edelbrock TES in the next few weeks

Interior:
OEM leather seats, driver's seat being redone this spring
New carpet and headliner being added this spring
Alpine CD deck with Excelon 6x9s, 4x6s & amps & sub TBD (next year's project)

Exterior:
All new OEM lenses
Brand new screaming red paint
17" TT2s with 245/45/17 BFG G Force KDWSs
NOS "5.0 Liter H.O." callouts in stock L69 spots...a little *****, but with the headers the car should make stock L69 hp of about 190-195 Plus it keeps the car from looking like a tarted up V6!

Suspension/Chassis:
**Bilsteins being added in a few weeks, has KYBs right now...I hate them
TDS Wonderbar
TDS subframe connectors
Edelbrock STB

Next year's projects....

1) Learn to tune it, and make my own chip for this car!
2) Kickass Eclipse/Alpine system
3) 3.73 posi rear
4) Replace bushings as needed

After that, just cruise it and enjoy it for years to come I bought this car to drive, not to race. I have the Z when I want to run 13s. After the rest of this stuff is done, I'll probably have $13k+ tied up in this car, and it'll be nearly mint. After the car is done, then I'll be off to find my holy grail...a G92 M5/305 or 350 IROC

only mod so far is a set of chrome valve covers and fel-pro gaskets...
planned mods-
remove AIR system
open air, air cleaner
aluminum heads
haven't decided on the cam
flowmaster headers w/ y-pipe
