adequate fuel for combo?

Real quick and too the point, im adding 062 vortec heads, lt4 hotcam w/ 1:6 full roller rockers, to my 355.

My question, im going to go all the way and do a hsr and bunch of other crap BUT!, i have to take this on the hr power tour and a truck show right after that, so due to the hotcam being on national back order, and lack of time and money now, im just going to go ahead and do all the full roller swap, (the hot cam, rockers and lifter) and the modified vortecs, BUT im goign to just buy a cheap used single plane intake manifold, and slap my sb throttle body on and run it untill i cant do the rest of my mods later on in the year.

So that being said, will the sb tb unit and the stock 5.7 truck injectors (65 if im not mistakin) work if i jack the pressure way up? Im going to go ahead and put in a 255 walboro pump and get that out of the way. Will i no doubt need to jump the injector size up also? or will fuel pressure be enough for that combo.

Im not looking for an all out flawless runing engine, i just want somthing to get me safley through the long journey and plenty of flogging without toasting my motor in the process. Im not real worried about having a cranky idle or anything like that.

Re: adequate fuel for combo?

You can only crank the fuel pressure if you have a means of doing some tuning. Otherwise it will run sloggy rich except for high RPM & load areas.

Quick calculations:

61#/hr injectors at 30 psi is 92.6 #/hr

two injectors @ .45 BSFC and 100% DC is 411 HP

Then 411 HP is the maximum that the 61 #/hr truck injectors will support at 30 psi fuel pressure. If your engine makes under that then it is safe (somewhat) for flogging. Vortec heads dont need a lot of timing, but neither do the L05 heads. Won't get full power due to lack of timing, but they shouldn't rattle the engine either.
