350 swap - hesitating under load
I just swapped a 350 tbi from a 92 van into my 91 bird. I am using the 350 injectors as well as the anlu5369 bin. The car idles and revs great in neutral. However once i attempt to put the car under a load / move it, it hesitates bad almost like a miss. I am assuming that it is not receiving enough fuel.
Has anyone else had a similar problem when attempting this swap? Are the fuel regulators the same between the 305 and 350? Is there a better bin that I should be starting off with? Basically I am trying to find out if there is something else that I am missing before I keep playing with burning chips.

Re: 350 swap - hesitating under load
i did the same swap, and after replacing the fuel press. regulator, rebuilding the throttle body, and replacing every other sensor i can find, and also checking for a vaccum leak, i have found that the furl pump, could not support the new crate motor. I did some research and i found that the stock fuel pump could barely substain a 305's needs let alone a 350!! first thing os check your fule pressure, if you have a TBI unit then you will need a special adapter to tie into the line at the tbi itself or right before the fuel filter. i hope this helps you out. I'll keep posted on my situation, as to the fuel issue, if i come across any new info i will cetainly post it!!!

Ok new fuel pump and ECM and still the same problem. Anyone have any more ideas? Could it possibly be the ignition module?

qytum
8/10 times hesitation under load is due to a vacuum leak or a lean condition.
1) Did you reset IAC per sticky??
2) TPS values - 0.5 to about 0.6 Vdc?
3) MAP sensor at idle in park, in drive???
4) EGR valve - is it closed when you shift into drive?
5) Timing set to??? Since you are using ANLU calibration use base timing stored in EPROM to set actual timing (remember to disconnect EST bypass connector and clear code 43 after words)

1) Havn't done the IAC yet, I'll try that tonight
2) I did set the tps to .5
3) Map sensor is working. I don't have my datalog values with me but they were changing under throttle
4) How would I check if the egr is closed? I do have a spare valve that I may try to swap on as well.
5) Timing was set to 2* with the EST disconnected.

Re: 350 swap - hesitating under load
On EGR - temporarily disconnect and plug vacuum line. See if idle improves. Check EGR functionality - use Vacuum pump to activate or press gently on diagram. At idle engine should stumble or die with a good EGR.
Check power brake booster and line for leaks. Disconnect and plug at TB - see if park to drive produces stumble in idle speed.
Try to get WinALDL data log - that should make troubleshooting a bit easier (from dead cold to fully warmed up, idling in park and in drive after warm up)

Re: 350 swap - hesitating under load
Ended up being the EGR. Figured it would be something simple that I missed.
Thanks again RF
