starting a mild 305 build

hey guys, kinda new here, had a few questions and comments i was hoping u could help me out with. Im going to start building my gf car, its a 92 camaro rs 305 tbi. When i told her about all the stuff she could do with it she was excited to have it done. she told her friend what i was gonna do and hes like nah man u can;t do that to a 305 tbi it will blow up, i told him the block is solid for a little street build and he said no cuz when he owned his 305 he threw a rod because he was doing a burnout and decided to hit nitrous in 3rd gear and said it tacked out and it blew (dumbass) so hes saying put a completely built 350 in... the problem is money.. i know the tbi has the capablities of makin some good power i just want to see if u guys back me up.

Re: starting a mild 305 build

really depends on what your looking for in the power department, if you want a 450 hp street monster a 305 tbi isnt for you, although some have done it, if you looking for a 220+hp street car then it can be done fairly easy. First off you want to to a full exhaust, headers back, then look into some decent gears with posi, that would wake that car up alot. From there you could do new intake,1.6 rockers, from there its all up to you but if you start going into heads, cam, and so on tuning is a must!

Re: starting a mild 305 build

screw the 1.6 rockers get into prom burning (get the ebl its the cats pajama's) do full exhaust, vortec heads larger cam i would go larger then the lt1 cam being as i have done it and am disappointed if i could do it over i would use the hot cam or zz4 then get a vortec carb'd intake the adapter to mount a tb to a carb'd intake also gears are another big thing if its not a DD the go with something like 3.73's or 4.10 if its a DD go with 3.43s

Heads/cam/intake/tune and New Exhaust will be the biggest gains.
