Stripped Bolt??

I am removing my smog pump and the 2 torx-head bolts in the bracket below the pump stripped. I am taking it to a friend's shop to get them drilled out. When I get those two bolts out is the pump going to be free or is it held on by anything else? This is very important because I can’t stay and finish the job of removing the hard lines, plugging the manifolds etc in his shop. So if the pump is gonna fall free after I remove those to Torx bolts I need to make some serious plans to figure out how to get the car home to finish, i.e figure out what size bolts they are and have a new one one hand that I can put in to replace the stripped on until I get home. Problem is, without pulling the bolts out to look at I don’t know what size bolt that will be.

Re: Stripped Bolt??

try getting a bigger torx and hammering it in to the stripped torx bolt and attempt to remove it, i ended stripping mine and thats how i got mine out. i dont remember if there are any other bolts holding the smog pump on, but your friend should have a couple of bolts that should fit in the holes so you can get it home.

i already tried to get it out with two types of extractors and I just mangled the bolt head. Then there are the clearance issues. My friend is a machinist with professional tools so I'm just gonna leave it up to him.

hopefully i will just be able to find a bolt there, but I don't wan to take a chance. Its not an auto shop that he works in. thanks for teh input

If anybody else knows whether there are more bolts I'd really like to know.
