Recently I've been hearing this obnoxious loud ticking noises, and it's even louder then my exhaust (which sadly, my duel exhaust can be heard across town.)

Anyway, I thought it was my headers blew a gasket, but it was the smog pump, what would cause it to make ticking noises? i'll replace it later when I get the money (I got my new engine coming in two weeks, I soon will post pictures of it, )

"dual" exhaust. A duel is a fight, dual means two.

A ticking noise from the air pump usually means the bearing in it has gone bad.

 

Take it off and open it up. Put a little bearing grease in there and see what happens. Can't hurt.

Make triple sure it's the smog pump too. Use the long-rod-to-ear trick.

 

it could be the bearing in the pump or possible the plastc inside has broken and is boucing around inside thats what happened to mine
