Iratic idle, stuck throttle, sputtering!?

Didnt know where to post because I have no idea what my problem is.

Ok, so I was at crusing speed say about 55, then I could feel the car hesitate a bit. Then it would sputter if I give it gas. Now when I finally got into town, I came up on a light, I throw it out of gear (5-speed) and the RPM stays around 2K, and running quite well... but I wasnt giving it any gas...

I then pull into a parking lot and it continues to do any of the forementioned symptoms randomly, it would almost act as if the throttle was stuck... but wasnt...

So I open the hood and pull the breather to check the TBI and all seemed well with injectors, throttle and TBI. After I put it back on I do some sharp revs... Stall! Hell to start... Fires up and then all is well........ WTF?

91' Camaro TBI 305 M5
Non-drop open air, no CAT, IAC located next to cap and rest is stock...

Kind of sounds like what my car did when my TPS went out. It set a code when that happened though. Is your SES light on?

It came on as I slowed down coming into town. Went off when I turned off the car. But not thinking that I should have checked the code before I replaced the starter. Is it a possibility its still on there? Thanks for the reply!

It's still there. Try the paper-clip trick to read the code ... or do the dumba$$ thing like I did and go spend $30 at AutoZone to get a code reader (this was before I knew you could jump the A+B terminals with a paper clip .

Should display all recent codes ... including intermittent ... unless you reset them (which I doubt you did).

Thats good to hear. I always thought that if you unhook the batt then the codes go away. Thanks!

Oh. You unhooked the neg battery cable? I missed that. I guess that's the natural thing to do when replacing a starter lol ... I feel like an idiot. That's what I meant by "resetting" was unhooking the neg cable. How long was it unhooked for? The code still might be there. Can't hurt to check. And if it's not fixed, the code will come back.

LOL now I get home and read this. I was wondering why in the hell it only flashed Code 12! So I was correct about it then, just assumed that it would be obvious, oops.

Looks like Ill have to wait till it does it again
